Can patients with cataracts benefit from SimVis Gekko simulations?

Yes, they can. Even in the presence of a moderate cataract, SimVis Gekko can project the effect of the full lens design.

Binocular defocus curves before surgery in the presence of cataracts and after cataract surgery, have the same shape, although with reduced visual acuity.1

Results from studies2,3 which included patients with several degrees of cataract (Objective Scattering Index between 1.1 to 11.75 and up to a visual acuity of 0.5 logMAR) show that cataract patients have the same preferences when scoring different corrections through SimVis Gekko with and without cataracts.
