Eduardo Lage, PhD

ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

Dr. Eduardo Lage is a Tenured Professor at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where he has been working since 2015. He is also the Founder and Chief Technology Officer of PlenOptika. In addition, Eduardo is a Co-Founder and Electrical Engineer Consultant for 2EyesVision.

Before joining Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Eduardo worked as a Senior Research Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) during more than four years. During this time, he co-founded PlenOptika, a company focused on improving access to eyeglasses. Prior to that, he conducted research at Hospital Gregorio Marañón in Madrid for seven years, where he worked on various Medical Imaging projects, developing tomographic systems for companies such as General Electric or Sedecal.

Eduardo’s diverse experience includes positions such as a Software Quality Assurance Engineer at Electronic Arts (EA) from 2002 to 2004, where he participated in the quality assurance and integration of popular video games. Overall, his expertise lies in the fields of medical imaging, technology development, and entrepreneurship.

Education

  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Multimodality systems for small-animal imaging from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in 2010, under the guidance of Juan J. Vaquero, Ph.D., and Manuel Desco M.D., Ph.D.
  • Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Electronic Engineering from Universidad de Alcalá in 2006, with a thesis on Data acquisition system for positron emission tomography of rodents under the supervision of Juan J. Vaquero, Ph.D.
  • Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Industrial electronic engineering from Universidad de Alcalá in 2002, with a thesis on Distributed applications using the J2SE/J2EE platforms, advised by José M. Gutiérrez, Ph.D.
