Dr. Daniel Durrie

Dr. Daniel Durrie is a highly qualified and accomplished ophthalmologist. With over 20 years of experience in laser vision surgery, including LASIK, and more than 25 years of experience in refractive surgery, Dr. Durrie’s expertise places him among the top 1% of LASIK and refractive surgeons in the United States. He has performed over 40,000 LASIK and laser vision procedures and has been the Principal Investigator for 150 clinical studies for leading laser manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies like Alcon Surgical.
Dr. Durrie’s exceptional patient care is reflected in his use of advanced technologies such as the IntraLase system for “All-Laser” or “Bladeless” LASIK and Wavefront-based (“Custom”) LASIK and PRK. He offers a comprehensive range of refractive surgery procedures, including LASIK, PRK, RLE/CLE, CK, phakic implants, limbal relaxing incisions, and cataract lens implants. He also specializes in managing complications of previous vision correction surgeries performed by other doctors.
His professional credentials include being a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, recipient of the Senior Achievement Award and Lifetime Achievement Award, and serving on the RSIG Executive Board of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Durrie is a member of the International Society of Refractive Surgery and has held positions such as Secretary and Board Member. He is also a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and has served on the Education Committee.
Dr. Durrie’s contributions to the field of ophthalmology are extensive, including publishing over 150 peer-reviewed scientific journal articles and numerous textbook chapters. He has been recognized as one of the 50 “Most Influential Ophthalmologists in the World” and one of the “Top 10 Refractive Surgeons in America.” His commitment to research and innovation has led him to participate in clinical studies, review refractive surgical techniques, and train surgeons worldwide.
With an illustrious educational background, Dr. Durrie earned his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the University of Nebraska and his Medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and a corneal fellowship at Filkins Eye Consultants. Currently, he holds the position of Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Kansas Medical Center and serves as the Director of Ophthalmic Refractive Surgery Fellowship Program.
