Copenhagen hosted new evidence, user experiences, and live demos of visual simulation in ophthalmology
Copenhagen, Denmark – September 2025 – The European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) Congress brought together the world’s leading experts in ophthalmology, and 2EyesVision was proud to play a central role with SimVis Gekko, the binocular visual simulator already transforming preoperative care in cataract and presbyopia surgery.
Throughout the congress, our team presented new evidence, hosted discussions with key opinion leaders, and delivered hands-on demos to hundreds of professionals at the Bella Center in Copenhagen.
Scientific contributions
One of the highlights was the Free Paper Session FP29 – Evaluation Testing, where Dr. Carlos Dorronsoro presented “Clinical Workflow Integration Options of a Binocular Visual Simulator of Intraocular Lenses,” co-authored with researchers from 2EyesVision and collaborators. The session demonstrated how SimVis Gekko can be seamlessly integrated into clinical workflow, supporting ophthalmologists in IOL counseling with reliable, patient-centered data.
Other talks featured contributions from Susana Marcos, PhD (University of Rochester), Maximo Gómez, MBA (2EyesVision), and Camille Bosc, MD (Institut Ophtalmologique de l’Ouest Jules Verne), showing how visual simulation is evolving from research to daily practice.
The 3rd SimVis Gekko Users Meeting
On September 12th at the Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers, leading clinicians from across Europe gathered for the 3rd SimVis Gekko Users Meeting. Real-world cases from Spain, Portugal, Ireland, France and Italy showcased how SimVis Gekko is being applied in clinical routines, from counseling patients on multifocality to building trust in premium IOL adoption.
“SimVis Gekko has moved from being an innovation to becoming a standard in our daily consultations,” said one of the speakers during the session.
Industry collaboration with Alcon
A milestone at this year’s ESCRS was the collaboration with Alcon, which showcased its multifocal IOL portfolio through SimVis Gekko at its booth. Visitors experienced first-hand how patients can preview their postoperative vision with Alcon lenses before surgery. This partnership reflects the growing trust of the industry in visual simulation as a clinical and commercial differentiator.
Live demos at 2EyesVision booth
At our booth (C1.041), attendees from around the world tried SimVis Gekko themselves, experiencing real-time, real-world simulations of trifocal, EDOF and mix-and-match strategies. For many, it was the first opportunity to see how technology is reshaping the conversation between ophthalmologists and patients.
Participation at ESCRS 2025 marked another step forward for 2EyesVision. With new evidence, stronger collaborations, and a growing community of users, SimVis Gekko is consolidating its role as a clinical standard in premium IOL counseling and surgical planning.
