Madrid, Spain – Technology company 2EyesVision announces the international launch of SimVis Gekko2, a groundbreaking device that allows patients to realistically experience how they will see after cataract or presbyopia surgery, depending on the selected intraocular lens. Developed in Spain, this technology enhances the preoperative experience and strengthens communication between professionals and patients.

SimVis Gekko2 uses a programmable fluidic lens to project the optical effect of different intraocular lens models into the patient’s eye. Until now, patients could only imagine what their vision would be like post-surgery based on explanations from their ophthalmologist. For the first time, they can directly experience the visual effects of each option. This helps align expectations, improve understanding of the treatment, and enrich clinical conversations with a visual, realistic, and intuitive tool. The technology has sparked wide interest within the ophthalmology community following its pre-launch at ESCRS—the European Congress of Refractive and Cataract Surgery—and FacoElche 2025—one of the most prominent Spanish-speaking ophthalmology events. Following regulatory approvals, SimVis Gekko2 is now available on the market, with the first units already sold internationally.

Validated innovation ready to scale

SimVis Gekko2 is the result of over a decade of research, supported by more than 25 scientific publications and protected by five families of international patents. Its design was developed in collaboration with Spark Design & Innovation (Netherlands), a firm specializing in ergonomics and user experience. The technology development was led by 2EyesVision’s R&D team in close collaboration with the Institute of Optics at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).

The launch coincides with the appointment of Máximo Gómez, former General Manager of Johnson & Johnson Vision Iberia, as Head of Global Commercial Strategy. Additionally, the company has opened a new investment round led by Bullnet Capital and INNVIERTE-CDTI, with support from ENISA, to accelerate its international expansion.

Feedback from early users

SimVis Gekko2 was tested in leading clinics across several countries before its official launch. Among other new features, the device includes a Pupil Monitoring System that facilitates automatic alignment, streamlining the simulation process and improving its stability. Its use in patients with moderate cataracts is supported by recent scientific studies.

Ophthalmologists using the device highlight its role in helping patients better understand the various visual correction options, boosting their confidence and enabling more personalized lens selection based on their needs and lifestyle. After surgery, many patients report that their final vision matches what they experienced during the simulation.
